Argentina Iguazu Falls Pictures
Iguazu water falls a major Argentina attraction
When traveling to Argentina Iguazu Falls is one of the highlights! I'd come to see this major Argentina attraction on a flight from Buenos Aires, planning to stay a few days and take a walking tour in the Iguazu National Park (map). The walking tour left from the main park office in mid morning, and by the time I reached this viewpoint on the Upper Circuit Trail, it was close to noon and very hot and humid.
Iguazu Falls national park sees some 2 million visitors each year. This day was not considered anywhere close to being the busiest ! A hundred or so students (not sure which country they were from) were here on a field trip, walking the same route as busloads of tourists, and all of us at the same time. Most of the foot bridges on the Upper Circuit Trail are only a few feet wide, so it was slow going in many spot as we edged past each other.
Five Iguazu Water falls all in a row ~ Upper Circuit Trail view
In this picture, five of the 275 Iguazu water falls can be seen all in a row.
The three waterfalls (bottom right, in the photo) are, in order edge of picture towards center, Salto Dos Hermanas, Salto Bossetti, and Salto Bernabe Mendez. 'Salto' is the Spanish word for 'waterfalls'.
The fourth water fall is Salto Mbigua, then comes Salto San Martin.
I took this photo standing on a section of the boardwalk on a with 'bump out' - a widening part that makes a view point, or lookout.
At several of these lookouts, all visitors on tour would happen to arrive at nearly the same time, so we had to shuffle around as we all tried to get a clear shot of the water falls.
Close Up of Five Argentina Iguazu Falls
Did I mention how hot it was? Do carry a large bottle of water with you. The sun was directly overhead when I took this close up of these five Iguazu water falls; this light sapped all the color, and the humidity made my lens sluggish.
But the telephoto lens (300mm) brought these falls a bit closer. If you go, take along small binoculars to get a better look. From the boardwalk - both Upper circuit and Lower circuit, the sounds of the waterfalls announces their approach.
At this viewpoint on the boardwalk, there are professional photographers who take your picture, for a price (around $10 US at the time) with a digital camera, as you stand on a fixed point with these five water falls as the background. The photographer then heads back to his office, and transfers them digitally onto a really good stock photo of these water falls, then brings the 8x10 photo to you during the lunch break. Since the light here at noon is not the best for taking pictures, I had him take one of me.
