History of the Glenerin Inn Mississauga Ontario
The Glenerin Inn has a long and well-documented history as a safe haven, with a welcome for all. 
1927 William Watson Evans, a Toronto lawyer, builds his new family home Glenerin Lodge.
1929 Addition completed for music room and tower.
1932 Evans, 42, succumbs to heart disease; John Sproule takes over as estate manager.
1935-1945 John Sproule and his wife, Avernel, and family occupy the Carriage House.
1940-1944 Mrs. Evans, a Trinity College alumnus, in failing health and no longer able to use Glenerin Lodge, offers its use to eight staff and 90 junior students from all-girl St. Hilda's Residential School, in Whitby, England, who are newly arrived in Canada to escape wartime bombings and stranded in Toronto, without funds or permanent housing.
1943 St. Hilda's students encourage estate manager Sproule to keep bees; Sproule develops 500 bee hives, becomes a bee inspector for the Ontario government, later moves to Mississauga Road north of Burnhamthorpe, and supplies honey for Streetsville Bread and Honey festival.
1945-1961 Glenerin Lodge sold to Robert Simpson Company; name changes to Glenerin Hall, doors open as the first rest home of its kind in Canada, with nurses and staff caring for up to 40 employees who are recuperating from serious illness, such as tuberculosis.
1961 Glenerin Hall sold to St. Basil's Novitiate
1970 Glenerin Hall sold to Don Mills Development Corporation; main house used for art displays art and community events.
1973-1978 Glenerin Hall sold to Don Mills Development; occupied by Solel Synagogue congregation pending completion of new synagogue.
1983 Glenerin Hall sold to Erin Mills Development Corporation.
1984 Glenerin Hall sold to Someplace(s) Different; extensive renovations begin.
1986 Glenerin Hall opens its doors as the Glenerin Inn.
2003 Glenerin Inn sold to Rose Corp., continues to operate as an inn.
2007 Note: A local realtor who lives near the Glenerin Inn told me that this property has changed hands yet again, saying that the new owners plan to erect a condo tower on the south end of the property, where lower floors will be devoted to a long-term care facility and the upper floors will be condo units.
2009 The new condo rises from the former swimming pool location on the southwest corner of the property.
