This is the hotel search I've used to book hotels, most recently in Sydney,Australia, the Blue Mountains towns of Katoomba and Leura, and Port Stephens.  In high season in Australia (December, January), these popular destinations are often booked well in advance, and some have a minimum stay requirement, so it was simple to find alternate accommodations. Overall, I find this hotel booking engine easy to use and I like that I get an immediate email confirmation. I also appreciated the map showing city location, to make sure you had the right place!

Most hotel bookings are not billed until you actually show up at the hotel front desk. Most hotel bookings are refundable within 48 hours of the check in date. I found this a handy feature as I had to amend my orignal bookings to add or subtract check in / check out dates as I changed around my itinerary.
